1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using HumanTone ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any modifications.

2. Description of Service

HumanTone is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that provides AI-powered text humanization, summarization, and note generation tools. The Service transforms AI-generated text into natural, human-like content and provides study tools to help users work more effectively with text content.

3. User Accounts

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Providing accurate and up-to-date information
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in suspicious activity.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable laws, regulations, or institutional policies
  • Generate, distribute, or facilitate the creation of harmful, threatening, or illegal content
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, word limits, or other usage restrictions
  • Share your account credentials with others or allow multiple users to access a single account
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the Service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure

Academic Integrity Notice: HumanTone is a writing tool designed to help improve the quality and naturalness of your content. Users are solely responsible for ensuring their use of the Service complies with the academic integrity policies of their institution. We do not encourage or endorse academic dishonesty.

5. Intellectual Property

Your Content: You retain all ownership rights to the text you submit to the Service. We do not claim ownership of your input or output content.

Our Service: The Service, including its design, features, algorithms, and branding, is the intellectual property of HumanTone. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our written permission.

Content Processing: By submitting text to the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service. We do not use your content for AI model training or any other purpose.

6. Subscription Plans and Payment

HumanTone offers free and paid subscription plans. By subscribing to a paid plan:

  • You authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) until you cancel
  • Monthly plans bill on a calendar-month cadence. Annual plans show both the monthly equivalent and the total charged upfront
  • Prices are subject to change with 30 days' notice
  • All payments are processed securely through Stripe
  • Word limits and features are determined by your current plan tier

7. Cancellation and Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Upon cancellation:

  • You retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period
  • Your account reverts to the free plan at the end of the billing period
  • We do not auto-renew you into a different plan or silently charge you for overages
  • We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods after the refund window ends

First-time paid subscriptions are covered by a 7-day money-back guarantee. Refund requests submitted within 7 days of the initial charge will be reviewed at support@humantone.ai.

8. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability of the Service, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any losses resulting from service interruptions.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind
  • We do not guarantee that the output of the Service will pass any specific AI detection tool or plagiarism checker
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months prior to the claim

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless HumanTone and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration.

12. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
